Hiking Bali and Visiting the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

The Weekly Traveler is Megan and Tyler's recap of highlights and memorable moments after a full week of traveling around our new home.

This Was Our Fourth Week In Bali

Revisited the Jatiluwih rice terraces. (last time it was all green—this time it was harvest)

When we came here for our honeymoon, we went by car and the cold A/C made our lens fog up once we stepped outside into the humidity and muffled up a lot of our pics

This time we took the bumpy 1 hour, 40 min ride by scooter, and the shots were clear as could be

One thing that wasn’t clear, though…the sky

After the terraces, we drove to our 2nd location through nonstop jungle rain, and ran into a few of these—each about a foot deep

Bali is warm, but riding in the rain for 30 minutes chills you to the bone. We felt like we’d just survived a snow storm in 80° weather

At least Tyler got new pants out of the deal

And this is what we braved the cold to see…the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan water temple. Definitely worth a few frozen fingers

To warm back up, Megan spent the next day pool hopping

And had herself a custom romper made (she was jealous of Tyler’s new pants)

But the next morning, we both woke up crazy early to go on a hike…this was breakfast at 3am in a remote village

From there we trekked 5 miles up an inactive volcano…

...Also, a monkey stole Tyler’s hardboiled egg

Week 4 got us back on track and loving everything that Bali has just right outside the city.
