The Weekly Traveler is Megan and Tyler's recap of highlights and memorable moments after a full week of traveling around our new home.
From Lombok, we took another (slower) boat to a little baby island right off the coast of Lombok…Gili Air
-
And when I say tiny, I mean we walked around this thing in an afternoon (that's about 2 miles around, gang)
-
-
Sunsets are basically Gili Air’s thing. Here's a local father showing his son a beauty
-
-
And this was the very next day...I mean COME ON!!!
-
-
Oh yeah…and it’s SUPER quiet because there’s no scooters or cars allowed on any of islands–just e-bikes and horse carts called cidomos
-
From Gili we fast-boated back to Bali, but this time we headed north. Northern Bali is sparsely populated as is, so by staying 4 miles off the main road it meant we were basically headed to another island…only this one was a landlocked oasis called Bulian
-
Bulian is a village of only a couple hundred people. This meant that us and another couple from the Czech Republic were the only tourists for miles…and we got plenty of long, puzzled looks walking around
--
--
But we, in turn, got a good, long look at the village's dragon fruit farm
-
-
Traversed some of its best rice paddies
-
-
And explored some of Bali's most beautiful waterfalls…this one is called Sekumpul, and there's 7 like this within a half-mile of it
-
-
-
For a few of them, you've gotta work a little harder than others...
--
-
But they were all totally worth it
-
After exploring and taking it easy in Bulian for a few days, we went back to Ubud to spend our last few nights in Bali before setting off on a 2-week adventure in Myanmar…stay tuned!
